Livestreaming and video calls

Livestreaming and 1:1 video calls run on GetStream, a hosted video service. OFEngine handles the payments, access control and interface; GetStream carries the video.

Setup

Section titled “Setup”

  1. Create a GetStream account and an app for Video.

  2. Copy the app’s API key and secret.

  3. In the OFEngine admin panel, open the livestreaming / GetStream settings and paste the key and secret.

  4. In the GetStream dashboard, set the webhook URL to:

    https://your-domain.com/api/webhooks/getstream

  5. Start a test stream from a creator account and join it from a fan account in another browser.

What creators can do

  • Go live from the browser with a webcam, or stream from OBS and similar tools over RTMP.
  • Put streams behind a paywall, and receive tips and virtual gifts during the stream.
  • Offer paid 1:1 video calls to fans (Pro plan and above).

GetStream bills you for usage directly. Check its pricing page to estimate costs as your streaming grows.
