Installation
Installing OFEngine takes about 15 minutes. You upload the files, create a database, and a web installer walks you through the rest. You don’t need the command line, Composer or Node.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You need:
- A server that meets the requirements
- A domain pointed at that server, with HTTPS working
- Your license key, from the purchase email. It looks like
OFE-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. - An empty MySQL or MariaDB database, with its username and password
1. Download your package
Section titled “1. Download your package”- Sign in to the customer portal with the email and password from your purchase email.
- Download the package for your plan. It’s a single
.zipfile.
2. Upload the files
Section titled “2. Upload the files”Upload the contents of the zip to your domain’s web root, the folder your domain serves (often public_html on cPanel). After uploading you should see backend/, install/ and a .htaccess file directly inside that folder.
- cPanel: open File Manager, upload the zip into the web root, then right-click it and choose Extract.
- SSH:
unzip ofengine-*.zip -d /path/to/your/webroot
3. Create a database
Section titled “3. Create a database”Create an empty database and a database user with full privileges on it. In cPanel this is under MySQL Databases. Write down the database name, username and password.
4. Run the web installer
Section titled “4. Run the web installer”Open https://your-domain.com/install/ in your browser. The installer has seven steps:
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Welcome | Lists what you’ll need. |
| 2. License | Paste your license key. It activates and binds to this domain. |
| 3. System check | Checks PHP version, extensions, folder permissions and video support. Nothing is changed. Fix anything red, then press Recheck. |
| 4. Database | Enter your database host, port, name, username and password. Press Test connection, then Save & create tables. |
| 5. Site info | Your site name, URL and timezone. You can change these later in the admin panel. |
| 6. Admin account | Your own login. Use a real email address, because password resets go there. |
| 7. Finish | The installer finishes the setup (moves files into place and links the media storage folder) and shows a Log in to admin button. |
The installer remembers which step you’re on, so you can close the tab and come back.
5. Finish setup
Section titled “5. Finish setup”Your site is now live, but a few things still need attention. Head to After installing to add the cron job and connect payments, storage and email.
