Troubleshooting

The installer’s system check shows red items

Section titled “The installer’s system check shows red items”
  • PHP extension missing: enable it in your host’s PHP settings (cPanel: Select PHP Version → Extensions), then press Recheck.
  • Folder not writable: the installer shows the exact chmod or chown command for your server. If the PHP user and the file owner differ, ownership is the problem, not permissions.
  • PHP version too old: switch the domain to PHP 8.1 or newer (8.2 recommended) in your hosting panel.

“Video processing unavailable” warning

Section titled ““Video processing unavailable” warning”

Your host has disabled the PHP functions OFEngine uses to run FFmpeg (exec, shell_exec, proc_open), or FFmpeg isn’t installed. The site works; only video transcoding, preview clips and overlays are skipped. Ask your host to enable one of those functions and install FFmpeg, or move to a VPS.

  • Confirm the installer’s final step completed. It links the media folder so uploads are reachable.
  • If you use cloud storage, recheck the bucket name, region, endpoint and keys in the admin panel, and make sure the bucket allows public reads (or the provider’s equivalent) for media.
  • New videos take a few minutes to process. Check that the cron job is running.

Subscriptions don’t renew, or scheduled posts don’t publish

Section titled “Subscriptions don’t renew, or scheduled posts don’t publish”

Almost always the cron job isn’t running. Check that:

  • it runs every minute
  • the path points at your backend folder
  • php is the right binary (use the full path from which php)

Check the SMTP settings in the admin panel, then your provider’s sending logs. If emails arrive in spam, add the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records your provider gives you. See Email.

The processor’s webhook isn’t reaching your site. Copy the webhook URL from the gateway’s page in the admin panel into your processor’s dashboard exactly, and make sure your site is on HTTPS. See Payment gateways.
