After installing
Work through this checklist once the installer finishes.
1. Add the cron job (required)
Section titled “1. Add the cron job (required)”OFEngine runs its background work from one scheduled task: recurring subscription billing, failed-payment retries, scheduled posts and messages, queued emails and video processing. Without this cron job, subscriptions won’t renew and scheduled content won’t publish.
Add a cron job that runs every minute:
* * * * * cd /path/to/your/webroot/backend && php artisan schedule:run >> /dev/null 2>&1- Replace
/path/to/your/webrootwith the folder you uploaded OFEngine into. - If
phpisn’t found, use the full path. Runwhich phpover SSH to find it, or check your host’s docs. - cPanel: go to Cron Jobs, choose Once Per Minute, and paste the command.
You don’t need Supervisor, PM2 or any other long-running process. The scheduler handles everything.
2. Configure your site
Section titled “2. Configure your site”Log in to the admin panel at https://your-domain.com/admin and set up:
- Payment gateways: enable at least one so fans can pay
- Media storage: local disk to start, cloud storage when you grow
- Email: needed for receipts and password resets
- Livestreaming and video calls: if you plan to use them
- Branding: your platform name, logo and favicon in the admin settings
3. Test it end to end
Section titled “3. Test it end to end”Before you invite creators:
- Create a test fan account in a private browser window.
- Subscribe to a test creator and buy one pay-per-view item, using your processor’s test mode if it has one.
- Check that the receipt email arrives.
- Upload a short video and confirm it plays.
If anything fails, see Troubleshooting.
