Updating OFEngine

Every plan includes lifetime updates for the plan you bought. New releases are listed in the changelog and available in the customer portal.

Always take a backup first:

  1. Database: export it from your host’s control panel (phpMyAdmin → Export) or run mysqldump.
  2. Files: download a copy of your web root, including backend/.env and backend/storage/. If you use cloud storage, your media is already safe in the bucket.
  1. Download the latest package for your plan from the customer portal.
  2. Put the site in a quiet moment (late night for your audience), because there’s a short interruption.
  3. Upload the new files over the old ones. Don’t overwrite or delete backend/.env or backend/storage/; they hold your settings and uploads.
  4. Visit your site and log in to the admin panel to confirm everything works.

If an update needs database changes, the release notes in the changelog say so and explain the step.

Restore your file and database backups, then contact support with what you saw. Your site will be back exactly as it was before the update.
